Shaykh al-Islam Abdel-Halim Mahmoud
46th Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif (1901-1978)

Honouring Legacy, Inspiring Continuity

As the baton of scholarship and leadership is passed from one generation to the next, the legacy of those who came before remains a guiding light. Their contributions are not only to be remembered, but to be cherished, studied and built upon. This principle of progression grounded in tradition lies at the heart of the Islamic concept of Isnad — the chain of transmission — which sustains continuity while navigating the demands of the modern age.

In this spirit, JAK Convention 2025 introduces a special segment titled Scholars of Impact, celebrating the lives and legacies of remarkable Islamic thinkers and leaders of our time.

This year’s tribute will honour the life and contributions of Shaykh al-Islam Abdel-Halim Mahmoud (ra); a distinguished man of knowledge, wisdom and spirituality — a true scholar whose service to the faith and the people has left behind a lasting legacy of leadership and readership for future generations.

Moreover, 2025 acknowledges two significant milestones: 40 years of continuous service by Jamia Al-Karam, and 50 years of continuous service by its Founder, Shaykh Muhammad Imdad Hussain Pirzada, in the United Kingdom.

These remarkable chapters of commitment and contribution will also be honoured and reflected upon during the convention.
